Casaccia lies amongst fields and forests at the foot of the Maloja at an altitude of 1465 metres, exactly where the Val Bregaglia ends and the Engadin starts. Right were the road starts to climb toward the pass is where the cluster of old houses called Casaccia can be found, and where we and our guests live in the large, old house which is our hotel. Our family has run this house for over 180 years, and thousands of travellers from all parts of the world have come through and appreciated their stay and thus many have come back.

Our guest book features famous names such as that of Giuseppe Garibaldi, Bismarck, the Princes of Savoya, Kaiser Wilhelm, the writer Emilio de Marchi, and many more. Our guests can choose to stay in comfortable single or double rooms with ensuite bathroom, or in dormitory-like beds with modern facilities. For people seeking privacy we also rent out apartments. We also offer free use of our large library of books and of our 90 square metre wall climbing gymnasium.

The owner of the house, mountain guide Siffredo, is always available to give you advice for easy walks, hikes and climbs in the Val Bregaglia area. Already on its own, our quiet and family oriented surrounding makes many guests want to stay longer. If you add to this the splendid surroundings of the intact nature of Val Bregaglia, its rich wildlife of deer and mountains goats, the rugged peaks of Bondasca in the Albigna Reservoir area, and the nearby lakes of the Engadin with its excellent tourist facilities, there are many reasons to stay here for a long time.

But also lovers of city life will find their pleasure, as St Moritz and Chiavenna are only little more than 20 kilometres away. In other words, if you like a personal stay in a far away place, but with all comforts a hotel can offer, if you like a quiet and natural surrounding at the border between Engadin and Italy, or if you like an occasional stunt into a busy, cosmopolitan centre – you will be in the right place with us:
